Hardware Components
Processor
Processor is a Hardware which carries out instructions of a program. It accepts input data, It also processes informations and sends it to a component.
Motherboard
It is known as a main board and a system board. A motherboard connects the components and devices attached to the circuit board. The motherboard also makes communications of the device easier with each other.
Basic input/output system (BIOS)
It boots the system with the information required from the hardware as the computer is starting up.
When booting up the computer the BIOS checks to see if it is a reboot or cold boot. BIOS displays the type of hard disk, amount of memory installed, information about the processor and floppy drive.

Heat sink
Cools a device by allowing heat to transfer away from the heat source. It increases the surface area in contact with the cooling medium surrounding it, such as air. Heat is transfered when a particle vibrates, the particles are stimulated beside it to vibrate. The vibrating particle causes the hot air to move further apart which makes it less dense. This causes the hot air around rises up and moves away from the heatsink.
Fan
The CPU fan is used to prevents the the processor on the motherboard and the computer from over heating. It does this by drawing in the air from the outside and into the computer. It can also get rid of warm air from inside the computer.
Integrated Drive electronics (IDE)
Transfer data and commands between the devices. The controllers of the IDE are on each sides of the device, which allows it to connect directly to the motherboard or controller.
Serial AT attachment (SATA)
It connects host adapters to mass storage devices. It transfers data between the motherboard and other devices that provide mass storage, such as CD -ROM drives, Hard drives and others.
Ports- Parallel & serial
Parallel ports allows transmission and reception of data bits at the same time.
A serial port allows data to be transferred to a hard drive from a remote device. It transfers information in or out of one bit at a time.

Internal Memory ROM
When you turn on the computer it stored information for the computer to start up. The programs are not lost when the computer is switched off.
Internal Memory Cache
Is a smaller and faster memory which stores copy of a data from themost frequently used main memory location.
Internal memory RAM
It is where programmes, applications and datas are stored. When the computer is switched off the content are lost. Any software which are running on the computer such as word are loaded onto the RAM and run from there.
Hard drive
A hard drive is used to store large amount of data in a computer system. They still retain datas even when they do not have power.
Network card
Allows your computer to connect to a network, using a method dependant on your network card. For example a wirless network card would allow access to a network through a wireless connection.
Graphics card
Allows fast transfer of information. It also generates and output images to a display in faster motion and better detail.
Power supply
A power supply proovides power to the computer. Most personal computers are plugged into standard electrical outlet. The power supply them takes the required amount of electricity and converts the AC current into DC current.
